The area around the lakes of Mölln belongs to the “nature experience area”, which may be used by canoe. Some deciduous trees are up to 250 years old. On the canoeing trail from “Lütauer See” to “Möllner Hafen” (harbor) (Elbe-Lübeck-Kanal) you will often see dead trees, which give this tour something jungle-like. A small cross over point for you and your canoe in the city area must be handled with the help of the entrained canoe wagons to get into the “Schulsee”. All entry and exit points are natural.

The area of the “Möllner Seen” extends from north to south with the “Hegesee”, “Schmalsee”, “Lüttauer See”. The terrain is formed by the last ice age and shows height differences of almost 40 meters. Dry outwash plains with forests, fields or succession areas characterize the landscape. Also the wooded steep slopes and the groundwater-dependent valleys in the meltwater channel with the marsh forests, marshes, lakes and streams and dead ice holes are typical. The “Pinnau” and the “Mühlengraben” flow through the “Möllner Seenkette”. Lake “Lütau” has a size of 59 hectares and is 16.7 m deep.
